My Family ~ My Life
My name is Carla Kroll and I am so excited to be your child's 6th grade teacher! This is my 14th year teaching at the Eldon School District. I feel so blessed to have the best job in the world and to really love what I do, besides being a wife and mother of three wonderful children. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher, and now my dream has come true.
I was born and raised in Mary's Home, MO. I graduated in 1990 from Eugene Cole R-V. I entered the workforce and stopped working for five years to stay home with my three children. I decided to go back to college to earn my teaching degree. I am excited to say I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an area of concentration and certification in eMINTS on May 10, 2008. I have completed my Master's Program (Curriculum and Instruction) with William Woods University as of July 2013.
My husband and I have been married for 28 years and we have been blessed to have three beautiful and wonderful children! Devin is 26 years old, Daron is 23 and Ashlyn is 20 years old.
My Philosophy
My philosophy is centered around a classroom community. Building a classroom community provides my students with a predictable environment in which they feel connected to others; An environment in which my students feel comfortable, safe, accepted, and feel a sense of ownership. I believe when students feel safe and connected as a community they are more comfortable taking risks, such as contributing to the conversation, contributing their ideas and feelings because they do not have to worry about how others will perceive them. Within a classroom community, I believe by involving my students in the creation and formation of classroom rules and procedures will provide my students with a sense of belonging and ownership. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to provide my students with quality work and and a variety of learning activities to engage their mind in meaningful learning and to encourage each student to strive to do their best. In expecting my students to strive to do their best, I believe that I, too, should strive to do my best in providing my students with knowledge and to meet all of my students' needs. I believe a quality education for students requires "teamwork" not just from the student and the teacher, but from the parents, the school, the school system, and the community. Together, we can accomplish anything!
